This is an amazing opportunity to learn, grow and succeed in one of the world’s most exciting work environments. You’ll be supported by a dedicated work-based Assessor and will learn from a team of highly skilled Engineers and Technicians.  


The Role:

  

As an Apprentice Information Communication Technician, you’ll support the smooth running of Heathrow Airport.  

You’ll learn how to fix problems in a range of environments, from terminal buildings and communications rooms, to departure lounges and airside Environments.  

Your apprenticeship will include:  

- Learning about a wide range of networking technologies mainly Cisco Systems & security firewall technologies

- Infrastructure fibre and UTP (cabling) infrastructure support, testing and repair

- Understanding Mobility solutions – WI-FI, Radio, Cellular

- Exposure to IP Telephony solutions
- Providing technical support 
- Communicating with customers  
- Using state-of-the-art equipment  
- Supporting system upgrades  
- Working as part of a shift pattern after your first year (Age dependant 18+)


About You:  



While no experience is required, to become an Apprentice Information Communication Technician, you’ll need:  

- A keen interest in building a career in networking, security, telecommunications,  wireless support  
- At least five GCSEs or equivalent at grade 9 – 4 , ideally including Maths at grade 6-5 or above    
- To be highly-motivated  
- Strong communication skills  

Other organisations may call this role Trainee Telecoms Engineer, Apprentice Telecommunications Engineer, Trainee Broadcast Engineer, Trainee IT Engineer, Apprentice IT Engineer, Trainee Network Engineer, Trainee Voice Engineer, Apprentice Broadcast Engineer or Trainee Communications Engineer.

SITA Assessment Centre – 29th June

 

The successful candidates will need to undergo a DBS check and gain security clearance, as you’ll be working airside at the airport. A UK Driving license is desirable although not essential for the apprenticeship.
