Meet the team

Paul Freeman - Managing Director

Paul has built his career in the learning industry, having held roles at Capita KnowledgePool, Reed Learning, Parity Training and Optimise Learning before joining Global Knowledge. He has worked with FTSE 100 clients consulting with them in delivering learning transformation programmes, and is actively involved in helping organisations deliver their Digital Business Transformation journey.  As Managing Director for GKA, Paul leads clients to build digital capabilities and improve professional skills.

Jenny Harman - Director of Education and Talent

Jenny’s background is in Technology and HR, working at both Telefonica and Orange. Her first encounter with apprenticeships was in 1997 at Orange where she was responsible for their first technical apprenticeship programme. This led to her starting GKA (formerly PDS), where the focus was working in partnership with clients to create and deliver award winning apprenticeship programmes, which she continues to focus on in her role as Director of Education & Talent.

Sara Goneos - Finance Manager

Sara has worked as a Finance Manager and Funding Manager in the apprenticeship sector for over 12 years. Prior to that she worked abroad, managing businesses in the leisure, retail and procurement industries in Central and Southern Africa. Sara later returned to the UK, working as a Freelance Accountant & Small Business Management Adviser, and this was how she first came to work for GKA, which quickly became a full time role as the business grew.

Gordon Richardson - Head of Quality & Education

Gordon started his career in the RAF as a telecommunications technician working on a range of telecommunications systems. He has worked as an engineer, technical manager and service manager within Orange (now EE) and TalkTalk. During his time in Orange he assessed and managed apprentices. Gordon has been with GKA (then PDS) since 2009 in a variety of roles. As Head of Quality and Education he oversees the quality of programmes offered.

Ray Snowdon - Product Design Manager

Ray worked in the IT sector (Unilever, BICC, Freeman Hospital) before moving into the education and skills sectors and working in HE, FE, the Sector Skills Council network (e-skills UK, Proskills UK) and chairing an Awarding Organisation (ONE Awards).  He has led national and regional education and skills projects e.g. NTI Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, NSAMPS, HLHE etc. working with employers, universities, colleges and government agencies.

Joanne Hopkinson - Programme Manager

Jo has worked within the apprenticeship sector since mid 1990’s and has worked with a variety of different providers before joining the GKA team in 2010.  Since 2015, Jo has been a Programme Manager, building bespoke apprenticeship programmes in collaboration with many clients.  She thoroughly enjoys working with a variety of business stakeholders and works closely to support her internal colleagues to ensure successful outcomes for all apprentices.

Mark Biffin - Programme Manager

Mark manages the relationships and facilitates the delivery of apprenticeships across many organisations. He is passionate about building robust apprenticeship programmes that will support the Talent agenda of each of his clients. Mark has been with GKA for four years, having previously worked in BT, where he was their Apprenticeship Programme Strategy Manager, championing apprenticeships and their development with partners across the sector to meet the ever-changing needs of the industry.

Keith Middleton - Programme Manager

Keith is an experienced IT trainer having worked for HP, Sun Microsystems, and Red Hat amongst others. He has several degree level qualifications and is a qualified teacher in the Lifelong Learning sector. Keith holds several IT certifications including ITIL, RHCE and HP and Sun certifications. Keith has worked for GKA since March 2018 and manages several apprenticeship programmes, mainly in the south of the country.

Lee Hooper - Programme Manager

Lee has worked in the IT & Telecoms industry for over 25 years. Formerly working in the Cable TV and Telecoms sector with Virgin Media, Lee has worked within Planning & Delivery to deliver network infrastructure to residential & business customers. For 8 years Lee worked within the apprenticeship program successfully delivering a variety of programmes to support the business. Since joining GKA Lee now provides support to clients in the design and delivery of their apprenticeship programmes.

Melanie Muldoon - Programme Manager

Melanie has 30 years’ experience in teaching and training ranging from working within private training organisations to one of the largest colleges in Europe. Over the past 5 years she has been a Training/Assessment Manager for large organisations such as Capita Knowledgepool working in the Digital training arena and Bright Futures Software, a software house with its own training academy. Melanie joined GKA as a Programme Manager in November 2018.

Tracy Goodenough - Business Development Manager

Tracy has had a career in the Education and Training Sector with more than 15 years working in both a Consultancy and Training capacity. She has an in- depth knowledge of the all levels of Education in the UK and has worked with many Blue Chip companies and universities. Tracy now specialises in Apprenticeships and works with companies to utilise apprenticeships across their business to encourage new talent.

Cat Mawdsley - Business Development Manager

Cat has built her career in apprenticeships having held roles as a regional executive, area manager, workforce development advisor, national executive to her position as consultant here at GKA. She has an in-depth knowledge of apprenticeship delivery and has experience of working with SME’s, BlueChip and Public Sector organisations. Cat is passionate about helping her clients overcome talent challenges through apprenticeship utilisation. 

Robert James - Internal Sales Executive

Rob joined GK Apprenticeships in 2018, where he started his career in the learning industry. Previous to this, he worked with international businesses for a publishing and events organising company. While completing a degree, Rob gained a background in customer service stemming from part time work at the John Lewis Partnership and Nuffield Health, and now utilises these skills to provide the best service possible for businesses looking to understand the apprenticeship landscape.
