British Core Values and Safeguarding

What are British core values, it may seem simple but these are the core values of the British Nation. They were brought about after the string of terror attacks and radicalisation that has taken place in this current climate.

Why are they important?

The idea behind core British values is that if we understand what it means to be British and feel connected to our Nation we will be less likely to enter into a radicalised situation.

How do we deliver this as part of our apprenticeship programmes?

As an integral part of the apprenticeship we will be facilitating discussions around different subject points that will question what it means to be not only British but also how we are British.  The discussions will be based around democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.

Safeguarding and why it is important

So what is safeguarding… Safeguarding means to protect a person’s right to live and work in safety and free from harm.

At GKA, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the apprentices enrolled on our programmes. We expect all our employees and associates to share this commitment.

We recognise that, as a training provider, GKA plays a significant part in the prevention of harm to young people. We are in an important position to contribute to our learners’ health, safety, enjoyment and achievement, by promoting safeguarding in our learners’ workplace, and influencing employers to provide safe, supportive environments in which apprentices learn, make positive contributions and achieve economic well-being.
